The Commonwealth of Joyceamala,
Wishing to continue regular contact with friendly sovereign states,
Encouraged, that it is easier to post than to type in ten-zillion e-mail addresses,
Genuinely caring about current events in other states,

1. Resolves to update regularly on LiveJournal and to keep all states informed as to the state of affairs within our borders;
2. Decides to read the LiveJournals of other states at regular intervals;
3. Urges other states not to make fun of us for putting this in the form of a resolution.

So, yup, I'm in charge of finding my own site for now. Awesome. I want to move to the city and I want it to have a rugby team.

On a not very related note, what do you think is the most interesting thing about me? You know, thinking as an admissions committee?

I am not so good at the updating. But, I'm off on the long journey to South Africa tomorrow (we don't leave the States until 19 June). Here's my temporary address in the RSA:

Joyce Adams, PCT
Peace Corps
PO Box 9536
Pretoria 0001
South Africa

I won't have internet access for two months, give or take a little, so don't be worried by my lack of updates (not that that's anything new!).

Hugs and Puppies!

Er, yes, I've already been to the bookstore. Why do you ask?

I'm not quite ready to go 100% public with this news, but Peace Corps has officially decided that I'll probably go to wherever in mid-July. We're in the 'sending your updated resume to a country' & 'can you deal with lots of people dying of HIV/AIDS?' (HUGE hint, I think, there) portion of the placement process. It is SUCH a relief to know that I'll be able to give myself a little more time in London once we get back from Kosovo and that I'll have a bit more than a month to travel to say goodbye to people, take in a Proddies concert and be home for our stamp show in July (dorky, I know). As soon as I know more, I WILL let you know!

But, one of the delightful side effects of all this is that I'll still be able to do my Cancer Research Race for Life 5K this year! I was so bummed when I thought I was going to have to leave the country before I could take part. Last year was so awesome and I'm hoping to beat my time this year (I already have in training & the event's a little over a month away).

If you'd like to sponsor me, my fundraising page is at http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/joyceadams. Thank you for all your support last year (especially Jenni who was my first amazing sponsor) and I can't wait to do it again!

Err..do I ever update this thing? It would sort of appear not. I do check it every day, though, as a portion of my regularly scheduled procrastination regime.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hi and FUCKING PEACE CORPS, JUST GIVE ME A COUNTRY ALREADY.

That is all. :-) Can you tell that I'm impatient/getting tired of waiting? Grrrr. Arrrgh.

Oh, and the new Who was Awesome! I absolutely adore David Tennent. j00j, would it be weird if I carried around a picture of him in my wallet? I loathe chatty seatmates.

This is me procrastinating because I really, really don't feel like writing delegate guides right now for LIMUN. I did one (statelessness...oh, rough) and j00j gave me the links for another one and I've downloaded a ton on Zimbabwe, but am just not feelin' like doin' it. I see tomorrow as another one of those 'work me ass off days.' At least my BIHR project is fun! (If hard work and needs to be done VERY SOON.) I've also sorted out the internship with UNA-UK, so that starts in February. Supposedly I'm going to be working on their Model UN program, which is exciting and something I think I'm rather well qualified for. Who on earth would ever have thought that MUN would turn into my life? Well, I suppose I just believe in it. And in teaching people about the UN.

I was reading someone's LJ earlier and it reminded me of how little I remember about some of the recent past. I wish I'd started LJ-ing sooner, because everyone knows that I've got the worst memory EVAR. I also sometimes feel like my life's divided into two very distinct sections and that the early part might have been a fairy tale. Did it actually happen? And why on earth did I take it for granted? Sorry. Am far more angsty than I should be at the moment and probably just need to go to sleep.

So, if anyone wants to remind me of stories from the summer of 2001 (between high school and college), I would appreciate it.

I know I worked in the governor's office and worked Grease at Civic. Do I just not remember because it was all sort of ordinary? Le sigh. Go away angst.

OMG, j00j and I have had a BritTV marathon today (after I went running). Watched six hours of Blackpool and spent a great deal of those six hours giggling or drooling over David Tennant. Because he is number two on the list of loves of my life, after Ian and before Kofi. The whole cast is phenomenal and the plot kept us guessing until the very, very last moment. So much good writing and SO. MUCH. CAMPINESS. (Evoke Shatner here.) David dear, please eat more ice cream. And please keep dancing.

Then, on to Torchwood for the final two episodes of the season, which were sufficiently creepy to occasionally require me to jump and/or hypothetically hide behind the couch (well, strike "couch," insert "j00j"). I love their period stuff and I love how much more interesting things are when there aren't aliens. Or very many of them. And Billis? CREEPY! And learning more about Captain Jack? Always interesting. And the end? Oh, the end! There was hugging and jubilation! YAY! We are all very happy (and I am a little peeved at the Beeb for keeping such good secrets!). w00000000t!

And now, to bed. Sorry for the vagueness, but did not want to be very spoilery.
